Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love and use technology….
Two months ago after a great deal of research and the unfortunate accident of dropping my Palm Treo, I switched to the iPhone (which I love more than anything now and I wonder how I ever lived without it!). It is soooo easy to text on it that I started texting my husband, Tim. He had a Razor and didn’t text because he found it too difficult. Shortly after showing him my iPhone we upgraded him and well…life has never been the same!
Very soon we began texting each other throughout the day. We text each other just to say, “Hi”, or keep each other up-to-date of what is going on….and it may interest you to know we also text for foreplay….to tell each other how we feel about the other and can’t wait to see them that night. It has improved our sex life so much since we got our iPhone. I have a special ringtone, “Phone call from the worlds greatest lover”, for my husband and his picture is attached to his contact record. For our relationship and our lives, the iPhone keeps us connected, passionate, organized and in tune with what is going on.
Not only has the iPhone been beneficial for our relationship and our family life, it has been invaluable for building our future. The notes section lets me capture all the things I am thinking and the affirmations that I say everyday. I have downloaded a Vision Board application which me reminds everyday of my dreams and goals for our relationship, our business and our lives. I have Facebook and Twitter on my iPhone to stay connected and up-to-date and can manage all this information from my iPhone. The Grocery application has allowed me to automate our grocery shopping.
For business, the iPhone has been invaluable and a time saver. Applications like:
- AroundMe, which GPS’s all the convenience places you need around you; banks, grocery stores, gas stations, etc.
- Yellow Pages.ca is another application I use extensively and it allows me to save all the businesses and addresses to contacts immediately. No writing or typing again!
- Voice memo – Use it all the time in business meetings.
- Trapster identifies all radar and police traps (it saved my husband a speeding ticket last week)
- World Traffic has all the cameras for in the intersections to see traffic congestion and areas to avoid
- Google Maps allows me to GPS where ever I am going for my meetings so that I don’t ever get lost.
- Weather lets me know instantly the weather in all the locations I want to track.
But mostly, the biggest benefit is the way the email and contacts function on the iPhone works and that has been the biggest change and improvement in my business life. Email comes into my iPhone exactly as it appears in my Outlook and I love that. I can easily scan and read the email. I currently manage over 20 email accounts on my iPhone. The contacts allow me to instantly save numbers and ringtones so I know who is calling and this allows for better time management.
You may think this is an advertisement for iPhone but I can assure you it is not, it is about lifestyle and quality of life! The iPhone has increased our quality of life and value tremendously. It has helped me to manage and utilize all the things in my life that are important to me and my husband. It has given us tools to support all the things we have identified as being our key drivers in our lives and our relationship.
If you doubt any of what I have said, there is an article on the “5 Megatrends You Cannot Ignore”, by Adam Kleinberg and here is the link http://www.imediaconnection.com/content/24911.asp . Read Megatrend #2- Instant Connectivity. For Tim and I this is not just a trend but a lifestyle. The iPhone has helped us to be connected with all the people we care about and do business with instantly. One little tiny phone - one huge impact on you life!
